Ok, so here's the crazy story of the day.
I'm in my bathroom this morning starting to blow dry my hair, and Jim comes by to chat. I say I'm having trouble working with my new haircut as it's now more layered all over (not stressed out or anything, just making an observation) and he takes the hairdryer and brush and says, "Let me try". It took a lot of trust for me to just let him do it and not worry about what it would turn out like, but I thought, "What's the worst that could happen? I just brush it a different way or put it into a barrette?"
So.... he then proceeds to dry my hair and take pictures of his handiwork. He did a really good job! (If you ever wondered what I look without a bit of makeup on my face - scary - this is it. I tried to talk him into letting me put makeup on first, but he's all about keeping it real.)
Anyway, last night I finished Rusted Root except for grafting the underarm stitches and weaving in the ends. It is a little lacey (holey) around the neck, but I'm going to call it a design feature. I will have Judge Jim take a pic of me wearing it once I've done those last few things to it and blocked it. Question for those of you who finished RR - I know it says to block it, but did you really do it? I think it might make the flower design look better but I am wondering if it really needs it as it will be stretched out when I wear it. I guess I'll try it on and see.
I feel like my week is getting better - every day closer to Friday is a plus - but I do have more stuff to do homework-wise. Papers, reading, etc. are all in my immediate future. However, I do want to get the Airy Wrap sweater DONE finally and cast on for something new. Orangina and Josephine are longer-term projects so I'm not going to wait to get those done first. Josephine's really a fall/winter sweater so that'll be last. I should finish the dreaded Lace & Bobble Jacket (picking up 250 stitches and doing ribbing around the entire thing) soon too.

I'm glad you're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I don't know how you do all you do and still get so much knitting done! Jim did a great job on your hair. :)

What a great Jim you have there! The hair looks great......I find men can do things really well because they take their time - me, I rush through everything because I have so much to do!
Look forward to seeing your RR. I would block it because of the lace part and I'm sure it would open it up a bit and look a tad neater. There are my two cents for ya!

My RR finally finished drying this morning. I did notice that with the cotton fleece that I was knitting with bleed a lot. I actually did not wash out all the color because I was getting bored with the process. I will do more the next time I wash it.
Blocking helped the sleeve openings to not curl and my neckline above the lace section to not bump up. I did change my neckline from a rib to a single crochet line (I did not like how it look) and I love the look. I should have pics up tomorrow. My photographer is free this afternoon.
When wearing RR only the lace section across the chest stretches for me. I made the size smaller than my chest measurement since I have been unhappy with how big all the sweaters I have made recently have been.

He's a keeper!
I really want to see your Lace & Bobble Jacket, especially since she took the free pattern off the web site.

You two are so cute! If I let Brian do my hair, I'd fall asleep-it relaxes me so much :) I know you'll get all your work done you can relax and knit this weekend! I've never seen so many sweaters knit so fast by one person! I look forward to RR!

I soaked and rinsed my RR a few times and added the vinegar as the label stated to do. I laid it flat to dry and then steamed blocked the collar to make it lay more flat. It turned out great! The color did bleed considerably so I would recommend soaking it for sure.
Your hair is cute! Jim did a great job!

I say def. block it, it always flattens the stitches out in a good way and just makes the sweater look neater...
Cute hair btw!

That's really quite a romantic gesture, blow drying your hair. Absolutely one of the best treats. And you are so kind to trust him to not make a rat's nest. He did well!
Love all of your projects!

How sweet he did your hair, and that you let him. And you look lovely without makeup.
Looking forward to seeing Rusted Root.

You look cute!
I haven't blocked my RR as I NEVER block the garments I knit - I only wash them before wear. This is something I also do with store bought clothes, I don't like dye and chemicals on my skin.
Can't wait to see your finished RR!

You looked gorgeous as always - even without makeup and in that harsh bathroom light that doesn't do much for *anyone* :) Can I borrow Jim to teach my man how to do my hair? You're a lucky gal!! I'm glad your week has finally gotten better! Maybe you should top it off with some more of those Ruby-tinis :)
