Yesterday I decided to cast on Baby Cables and Big Ones Too - here's my progress:
I haven't actually knit along with the SKC in quite a while, so I thought it would be fun to cast on approximately at their start date and play along. I think it officially started toward the end of last week and is part of a three-way tie with Snow White and Silken Scabbard (which I really need to get back to the sleeves on...eventually.)
I think I'm going to try to knit AND sew from stash for awhile and see where it takes me. I find that I get more creative when I come up with alternatives for projects from already-existing stash, and my yarn/fabric closet REALLY needs some clearing out. Plus, I'm just sort of curious as to how long I could do it. The only thing I bought this weekend was two more rotary cutting mats so that now I have my entire sewing table covered - this will save a lot of time when laying out and cutting fabrics. With how many 60" wide (knit) fabrics I work with, it really made sense to do this, especially when they were 40% off at Jo-Ann's.
Jim and I went to Ditka's (LOVED IT - best dinner we'd had recently!! The tuna roll appetizer and the halibut were amazing) with our friends Stefanie and Tom on Friday and were talking about doing a weekend with them up at our favorite place in Michigan in mid-November. Except I have to remember, NO WINE STASHING. I must somehow think yarn, fabric, or wine are going to become unavailable sometime soon, given the size of my stashes. Not showing off, just realizing that I've been a little crazy. Don't worry, I'm not joining the mopey "the sky is falling!!!" people, just thinking that I should lay off the sense of urgency in stashing stuff.
Hope everyone has a great week!

We just got a Ditka's.
Haven't been yet, dying to go!

Oh, how pretty! Looks like a fun project.
And I understand completely about the stash... mine is threatening to take over the apartment -- well, at least the places the cat hasn't staked a claim to ;-)

It is really nice to use up stash. Plus, it makes room for all new stash! Hey, did you hear the cruise lines are offering refunds for fuel surcharges? Since fuel prices are down, they decided to stop charging for them & are giving refunds to people that already made their reservations.

Finally got caught up after bloglines quit working there for 10 days or so! I can't wait to see your cable sweater...I have the yarn in hand to do that one and hope to start it after the holidays! Love your green.

I have been trying to knit from the stash for most of this year. I still buy yarn now and then, but for the most part I have enjoyed shopping from the stash.

I've been using up stash lately too (though I still buy occasionally) and it is fun to be able to use things up - I'm at the point of actually needing to stash more worsted weight yarn because I'm running out!
We stash wine too... a weakness, but it's just so useful to not have to run out for a bottle...

I love that sweater! I think I may even have yarn for it! I understand having to knit from stash. I made my last yarn purchase last month and will be knitting from stash so I can save money for Christmas. I will be interested to see what projects you come up with!

OH pretty color! I seem to have the same stashing problems as you! LOL! I've been good about the not bying more knit fabric until I use mine up but I can't seem to control myself with the yarn! (or wine) I wish the darn designers would quit coming out with such great stuff!!!

Hey, it looks *fan-freakin-tastic*!! Even though I hate posting my own WIP stuff, I *love* seeing everyone else's :)
I'm trying to knit from stash too right now, so we can cheer each other on! I'm looking at it as a puzzle - how to find the yarn that fits what I want to make and vice versa. Makes it more fun that way :) Good luck!
Have a great week!
