This has been a really long week! It's year end so we're in the midst of the financial statement prep process and audit. For me, it's not that the hours are necessarily longer than normal, it's just that more random questions come up that have to be addressed/potential bombs have to be de-activated. It always seems like no matter how much you prepare, there's always some random thing that we have to justify - but so far so good.
Anyway, tonight my co-workers are taking me and my other co-worker who also just graduated out for drinks after work. That should be fun. I'm hoping to limit it to an hour and a half or so, because tomorrow night I'm going to the same co-worker's graduation party. She went back for her bachelor's degree as a non-traditional student and I am really proud of her for doing it. I've tried to be a mentor to her and encourage her along the way, and she always tells me how much she appreciates that, which is really nice to hear.
What else? I tried on Snow White this morning, after taking her off J.Lo and she fits great. The neckline is just the right depth, which I was worried about. Just have to weave in the ends, graft the armholes and I'll be able to do modeled pics!
Besides the party tomorrow night, and the thing after work tonight, I don't have any other weekend plans, so I should be able to work on my knitting projects (Habanero and Wheat Ear - I brought Mirepoix into the office to work on during boring webcasts) and finish my Simplicity 4704 2.0 dress I started last weekend.
I bought a chaise lounge yesterday for the corner of my master bedroom, and a gravity feed iron - two things to cross off the list. I'll show pics when I receive them. I'm moving along on that list though.
In other randomness, and in an attempt to reward you all for getting through these picture-less posts lately, I am giving away a prize. It is the leftover 375 yard skein of Brooks Farm Riata in the blue/green variegated colorway that I used for Snow White. If you've never used Riata, here's a great way for you to try it - it's really a great yarn. I'll randomly pick a winner from the comments on today's post. Here's a picture of it, although the blue and green colors are much prettier and vibrant than in the picture:
I really appreciate you reading every day and commenting. I am back to my usual 143 hits a day and it's funny that it's 143 a day, week after week. You all are consistent!! Happy weekend - I'll post the winner on Monday!
That yarn looks gorgeous! Have fun at all your parties this weekend; you deserve it!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Don't party to hard =)!! I'm singing tonight with the band, and it's at a party, so I guess I'll have a little fun. Other than that, my weekend should be a little quiet. I can't wait to see you model Snow White, and what other crafting goodness you get done this weekend.

You will LOVE your gravity feed iron! I had one that finally bit the dust--lasted about 20 years. I replaced it with the Rowenta Steam station. The tank for the gravity feed was bigger and I got really spoiled being able to use heavy duty steam without constantly filling the iron. I used a planter pole to hang the bottle from! Looking forward to those modelled pics! Have a great weekend!

I'm beginning to think you somehow have more hours in your days than I do -- you get so much done! Love the yarn for Snow White!

well I have to say that your previous post made me laugh out loud.......not because of anything you said but because I have wanted that egg poacher/toaster thingy for a couple of years since I saw them in the store. My husband was walking through the room when he saw the picture as I was reading your post and said "hey isn't that the thingy you always think about getting?" I know it isn't a BIG expenditure, but sometimes I hem-n-haw over those things MORE than BIG purchases! ha ha I had always wondered if the cleanup would be worth the quick convenience of cooking and whether I had the counter space, etc etc etc. Isn't it silly how we let somethings in life torture us? Ha ha Like just yesterday I made my usual weekly Borders/Joannes/Michaels craft run (just to look, mind you) and my husband and son came with me. They were wandering around the bookstore when they came upon me in the sewing/knitting/crochet section and my husband says "is that the book you ALWAYS look at?" and I said "yes" ........"well are you going to buy it today?" ........"no" ......."why not?, is it not what you want?" ........."well I still don't know!"
But now I have a feeling that I know what I am getting for Valentines Day, because I saw him make SERIOUS MENTAL NOTE OF THE TITLE!!!! and to be honest I have been visiting some books for over a year now! so silly so silly!!!!!!

Looking forward to seeing that modeled snow white! Once again, your knitting speed simply amazes me.

I want the egg toaster! I will get one soon.
I hope you have a great weekend! You have an amazing number of hits a day - that is fantastic! We love you and your knitting so your blog is really a pleasure to read.
I think I will have to knit Snowwhite now. I can't get it out of my mind. Looking forward to seeing yours modeled!

I've been a lurker for a while now, but the temptation of that lovely yarn has made me come out! Do I notice that you also are an accountant (right?) I have zero knitting time, except lunch, during work. :(
I've also added Snow White to my ever - growing list on Ravelry!
You are indeed a BAD influence!
Thanks!!!

Robin, I'm always impressed by the massive amount of FO's you have! Also, whenever I've commented on your blog, I always get a personal email. Are you really responding to all 143 comments?? I'm hoping there are fewer comments today and maybe I'll get some beautiful yarn.
Have a great weekend!

I recently discovered your blog as I was lurking on Knitters Delight. :) I have actually been stalking your Ravelry page and work at the Sexy Knitters Club for some time. Always impressed with your prolific knitting, I am now totally floored that you sew as well.

Happy Friday! Have a great relaxing weekend knitting away.

Hi Robin, I'm looking forward to you modelling Snow White. I think it's probably my favourite thing as well as yarn pictures to see on blogs. I hope I can be entered into your contest even though I'm in Canada.

Oooh, pretty yarn! Have fun celebrating, you deserve it. Looking forward to seeing the chaise too, should be a cozy spot to knit. Have a great weekend!

I don't think I told you that my daughter got a dress form for Christmas. Though "JLo" would be an appropriate name for hers, too, I think she went with "Melinda."

I'm looking forward to the modeled pics of Snow White! I can't believe you are finished. That seemed really fast! Thanks for the info on the 4-slice toaster...I'm off to check it out!

Yummy looking yarn. I had a chaise lounge literally decades ago and loved it. Have a great weekend.
Posted by: Linda W | January 23, 2009 at 11:45 PM
Love the yarn. I have a question though, I already have my chaise lounge, for knitting purposes of course, but what is a gravity feed iron? Can't believe I've lived this long and never heard about it....Do I need one too?

Can't wait to see your finished Snow White!
Hope you have a great Weekend Robin!
Posted by: Michelle | January 24, 2009 at 09:10 AM
Not that I need anymore yarn, so I hope I'm not the big winner this time, but when do we get to see the "real" Snow White???
:O)
Posted by: Heather | January 24, 2009 at 10:22 AM
A Chaise Lounge? I so seriously envy you. That is on my "I must have one before I die" list. Seriously. Can't wait to see your photos. And also of the iron, which I'm not familiar with.
Hope you are really enjoying your weekend and get a lot of knitting done!

Because I am engaged in a prove-you-aren't-addicted-by-not-buying-yarn-until-March-31st bet with Sean, I'd be THRILLED to win your prize (okay, I'll admit it, I am a bit addicted!)
ps: frantically looking for a sale on the egg thing so I can get one before leaving Sean and Dennis on their own for an entire week. Can't bear the thought of my little boy eating only processed/pre-packaged "food" while I'm away :o

Loved the egg poacher! What a great idea having it all in one appliance! I was over looking at your cable down sweater - fabulous! That's been in my queue for sometime, but I think I may need to get on it -- I especially liked that you used a slightly varigated yarn as opposed to a solid -- very effective.
Posted by: Kerry | January 24, 2009 at 08:56 PM
I still read but don't comment all the time! Always love to see what you're knitting and sewing. I loved that egg poacher!
