I was off work on Thursday and Friday, and we were having our house painted so stayed home and hung out. I decided to pick up - drum roll please - Mirepoix! As you can see, Marianne and I started the knitalong for this back in October of 2007 and since then I have worked on it in fits and starts when I got motivated, which wasn't very often. After completing a few inches of the fair isle the first time, I also reknit the bottom ribbed section to make it longer as originally I had shortened it and that wasn't going to work. I also reknit the sleeve cap on one of the sleeves as my row gauge was off and it wasn't going to fit into the armhole correctly.
After these almost-two years of trials and tribulations, I am happy to say I am DONE with the knitting on it and am ready to steek it. Here it is in its bound-off pre-steeking glory - that overflow of knitting in the middle is the neck steek, which, along with the armhole steeks, will be reinforced down the middle by sewing machine (essential, as this is merino superwash wool and has no "stickiness") and cut open/finished. My goal is to finish it before October 2009 so it will just squeak short of being a 2 year WIP (I think UFO is a more appropriate term, actually, given the time frame here.)
I'm also done with the sleeves, but they're boring (just like the bottom ribbed section) so I won't bother showing those.
I also started Favorite Cardigan from Custom Knits about a week ago - here's a progress pic of that. I'm finally using that 800-yard lot of turquoise Tess Cultivated Silk and Wool I bought at Stitches East a few years ago!
My next project is going to be a shirt for Jim - he likes wearing these oversized, usually Hawaiian print shirts for golf and for going out for dinner, so I thought I would make him one of these (Kwik Sew 2935):
Still waiting for my clasps for Broderie, but all the sewing is done on that too - just ready to sew on the clasps!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Whoa, blast from the past! LOL. Congrats on finishing that beast, I mean sweater! That favorite cardigan is such a cute pattern. It's going to be really pretty.

Both sweaters look fabulous. You are doing a beautiful job as always. I keep saying I'm going to sew something for my husband, but I haven't done it yet. I really have to get on the ball. By the way, I like the fabric choices you made in you last post, and the last 2 dresses you made are great wardrobe staples.

Mirepoix looks gorgeous. Despite the time it took to do it, it will probably be a sweater you'll treasure for decades.
