I've jumped on to the over-the-knee flat boot trend and bought three pairs from Zappos the other day. Today I'm wearing the brown suede pair with my Butterick 5313 dress.
First the boots:
chocolate brown suede Chinese Laundry "Tripin" (you can't see the cool snap buttons at the top here though) - I'm wearing these with the dress today
smoky gray Chinese Laundry "Turbo"
black leather Chinese Laundry "Newbie"
Now the dress - I had made this dress a few months ago, decided it didn't suit my body type, and gave it to Dawn. She tried it on and it was too short for her, and recently gave it back after trying it with boots, leggings, etc. and finding it still to be too short. So...I decided to try it on, as I've lost 10 pounds since I tried it on last (woo-hoo!) and it didn't look too hideous, so I decided to wear it today with the boots. It's not the most flattering thing I've ever made, but it's wearable. I had thrown away the pattern after I made it, so there won't be more, but here it is. Please excuse the blurry photos, we had some technical difficulties with the camera:
I don't really like the back view too much, despite having looked at it in (my version of) "the 360" before leaving the house. My bra today is too loose so it's making my back look funny and as the dress is shaped for someone with a bit less junk in the trunk, it's a little clingy there.

I like your version. I agree that it's not the top of your fabulous creations, but still lovely. Great job on the weight loss - hopefully I will be following suit, soon.
Now - for the boots.....why did you have to include the links. I have already purchased a gray pair recently, but really like to trend too. Stylish and comfy.

I love the tall boots. I have problems finding boot like that that fit me. Apparently I have fat calves!

Love the boots - I need some like that! I think the dress is cute, congrats on the weight loss! Maybe try it with opaque tights and flats? I can picture it like that!

I think it looks nice, especially with the boots. The color is lovely.
Might I suggest a full-length slip to avoid the bra wrinkles in the back?

I love, love, the boots! And congratulations on losing 10 pounds. That is fabulous!
Have you tried wearing the dress with a belt to give you more waist shaping?

I love the boots. I like boots, but my feet get so darn hot when I wear them that I just don't even try. The good thing about that is that I save a lot of money in the winter season because I rarely buy boots!

I LOVE the boots!!!! I also like the dress. That fabric color looks great on you. I think I might have take a trip over to the Zappos website.

I had a pair almost exactly like the gray ones back in the late 80s. My mom would always try to get me to buy a sensible pair of sneakers or everyday shoes, but I went for the boots every year at back to school time. What if some hair band spotted me at the mall without boots on? The horror! ;) Love all your picks!

Nice boots. You still look cute in the dress no matter what you say.

I like the front of the dress but you are right about the back. The boots are really nice! (Thanks for visiting my blog. Can't wait to see what you've done so far on your coat.)

The dress is really cute. And as for the back, a nice jacket or blazer will cover up that up. It's one of those times where, after making something, we have to ask ourselves, "Have I seen worse on others?" And the answer is always, "You betcha!"
